Canva - This is a great site to create free custom graphics. There are a TON of free resources there. They have a lot of editing tools and free photos to use, and you can also upload your own photos or photos from the web. 3 Excellent Sites to Get FREE images
Tweetdeck - Tweetdeck links with your twitter account, and it allows you to separate content from Twitter into columns. For instance, you can have separate columns for your home feed, notifications, a chat hashtag, and your blog address. You can easily set it up to your needs.
Remind - Remind is a free text messaging app. For example, you can set up groups for students, teachers, PD groups, or parents, and send announcements as needed. The service keeps your phone number private, and sends a text to the individuals who have signed up for the group.
Livebinders - Livebinders is a digital binder where information is sorted by tabs and sub-tabs. Ideas for using Livebinders include an online repository for “need to know” items such as handbooks, forms, payroll information, PD resources, testing information, STIPD info, etc., a parent resource livebinder, a student eportfolio, or professional development resource library.
Voxer - Voxer is a free walkie-talkie app that allows live conversation and a voice messaging system, too. (Think group chat with texts, photo, video, and voice messages.) How can I use Voxer as a School Leader?
Screencast-o-matic - Capturing your screen and using a voice-over has never been easier. You can record up to 15 minutes with a free account and upload it to YouTube or save as a video file. Uses for screencasts include flipped faculty meetings, tutorials (How set up a Professional Learning Plan, How to assign textbooks, How to _______), Parent communication via video newsletters, tutorials, etc.

-- This desk is a huge help to me for being visible. I can "park" in hallways and near intersections and work during classes. I'm able to greet teachers and students and monitor hallways and still get some paperwork done. Several teachers in our school have purchased them for their classrooms. Some teachers have purchased one for their own personal use, and some have purchased one to a few to have on hand as flexible seating options for students who would like to stand during class. While I have read MANY books in my career, there are 3 that I find have been most impactful for me and or my staff. I have read some awesome books, books that I could recommend, but these 3 are the ones that will make immediate impact with staff everywhere.
Do You Know Enough about Me to Teach Me: A Student's Perspective
I was introduced to this book around 2008, and a few years after that I had the opportunity to connect with the author, Dr. Stephen Peters. Since the book had a great impact on me personally, I chose it to be a part of a summer book study on twitter with some members of our staff a few years ago. We still have it in our professional room in our school library, and our Education Academy director had her students to read it recently.
Teach Like a PIRATE: Increase Student Engagement, Boost Your Creativity, and Transform Your Life as an Educator
This book was another book we read during our summer book study on twitter. It created a common language with our staff members, it gave permission for teachers to try new things, to motivate, and to have FUN in the classroom. The author, Dave Burgess, is accessible on twitter and is an fantastic presenter. I highly recommend this book for new and experienced teachers.
The Innovator's Mindset: Empower Learning, Unleash Talent, and Lead a Culture of Creativity
This book by George Couros is one that I read most recently with a group of teachers at our school. The book will cause you to be reflective, empathetic, and brave. George includes practical ideas and questions for reflection throughout the book. It is a book that builds on what we know works with students - relationships - and takes it to the next level as we are a part of 21st century teaching and learning.
